The Seattle Sounders Academy U-17s won the 2019 Generation adidas Champions Division, defeating Spanish side Valencia CF 1-0 in the final on Saturday in Frisco, Texas. As the reigning champs of the GA Cup Premier Division and the only MLS club to even advance to the tournament’s title match, they have etched their names in history as the first North American side to win the event.

Ray Serrano scored the game-winner in the closing seconds of extra time, heading home a cross from Alfonso Ocampo-Chavez, as Seattle captured the title in dramatic fashion, avoiding a penalty kick shootout. [+Full Match Recap]

Mexican side Tijuana won the GA Cup’s Premier Division championship, culminating with a 2-0 shutout against Danish club FC Midtjylland in the title match.

The U-15 Division trophy also goes to Mexico, as Chivas de Guadalajara came out on top of a dramatic penalty kick shootout following a 1-1 draw against Toronto FC Academy. Chivas edged Toronto 5-4 in PKs after they remained all knotted up with one goal each following a grueling battle in regulation and extra time.

Although Chivas took the top spot in the U-15 Challenge between MLS academy clubs and Mexican academy sides, the MLS teams emerged as the overall winners of the challenge with a strong 11-6-3 record against Liga MX competition. [+Full Recap]
