Four USWNT players named finalists for 2019 Ballon d’Or award

Four U.S. Women’s National Team players have been named as finalists for France Football magazine’s 2019 Ballon d’Or award, recognizing the best female player in the world.

The U.S. nominees include: midfielder Tobin Heath (Portland Thorns FC), midfielder Rose Lavelle (Washington Spirit), forward Alex Morgan (Orlando Pride) and forward Megan Rapinoe (Reign FC).

Lucy Bronze (Lyon), Ellen White (Manchester City), Sam Kerr (Chicago Red Stars), Nilla Fischer (Wolfsburg), Amandine Henry (Lyon), Alex Morgan (Orlando Pride), Vivianne Miedema (Arsenal), Dzenifer Marozsan (Lyon), Pernille Harder (Wolfsburg), Sarah Bouhaddi (Lyon), Megan Rapinoe (Reign FC), Lieke Martens (Barcelona), Sari van Veenendal (Atletico Madrid), Wendie Renard (Lyon), Rose Lavelle (Washington Spirit), Marta (Orlando Pride), Ada Hegerberg (Lyon), Kosovare Asllani, Sofia Jakobsson (both CD Tacon/Real Madrid), Tobin Heath (Portland Thorns).

The award will be voted on by a collection of 50 soccer journalists from around the world with the finalists and winner being announced on Dec. 2 in Paris.
