ECNL: Virginia Rush, Richmond Strikers in action
By Jimmy LaRoue
Just two local ECNL clubs will be in action this weekend, both traveling to the Buckeye state and alternating the same Ohio opponents.
On Saturday, Internationals will face Virginia Rush, while Ohio Premier Eagles will host the Richmond Strikers. Sunday, the matchups are reversed, with Ohio Premier Eagles hosting Virginia Rush and Internationals taking on the Richmond Strikers.
On the U-14 stage, Rush is 1-6-1 and the Strikers are o-6-0, so they will be looking to close out the year on a positive note, while Ohio Premier Eagles (4-3-1) and Internationals (3-3-2) are mid-table in the Mid-Atlantic Conference.
Ohio Premier and Internationals have just begun their ECNL seasons on the U-15 through U-18 level and have only played a couple of games each.
Rush’s U-15s are 3-3-1, while the Strikers are 1-4-1. The U-16 Strikers squad is 2-4-1, while Rush is 1-6-0.
Looking at the older age groups, the Strikers U-17s have started the season strong, going 4-0-3 over their first seven games, while Rush is 1-6-0. The Strikers U-18s have also had some success, going 3-3-1, while Rush has struggled so far, going 0-7-0.
