D.C. United Academy U-14s to compete in Cayman Airways Invitational

(Via D.C. United) – For the second consecutive year, D.C. United Academy’s under-14 team will travel to the Caribbean to participate in the Cayman Airways Invitational, an international under-15 tournament.
The tournament, being held from May 2-7, features 12 teams split into three groups. Group winners and the best overall second-place team team automatically advance to the semi final round. United are one of three academies from Major League Soccer attending the tournament, along with Seattle Sounders FC and the Houston Dynamo, and will also compete against Manchester City’s academy team.
“We are very excited and honored to be returning to the U15 Cayman Islands Invitational Tournament,” head coach John Bello said. “This is a top-class event that has allowed our players to play against some of the best international competition possible. It’s an honor to be chosen to participate in the tournament; we’re looking forward to the challenge and experiencing everything the Cayman Islands has to offer.”
