Creighton women’s soccer inks three recruits during early signing period
Omaha, Neb. – The Creighton women’s soccer team signed Sydney Drees (Eden Prairie, Minn.), Jess Torres (Puerto Rico) and Reiss Wood (Overland Park, Kan.) for the 2022 season during the November signing period.
“I am very excited to add the pieces we need to continue our progress as a team and program,” said head coach Ross Paule. “I look forward to coaching these young women to grow and develop.”
A four-year starter for Benilde St. Margaret’s High School, Drees earned All-State in both her junior and senior seasons. A team captain for the Red Knights, Sydney played club soccer for MTA ECNL. She also has some familiarity with the Creighton campus as her brother, Dylan, is a sophomore for the Bluejay baseball team.
Torres currently plays for Puerto Rico Sol FC U20 Women’s team. She has been with PR Sol for 18 months, but also played for TSJ FC Virginia before moving to Puerto Rico. An athlete box to box midfielder, Torres was a team captain with a strong work ethic and equally diligent in the classroom. Outside of soccer, Torres plays the violin and runs track.
Wood is an attacking midfielder from Blue Valley West High School. She plays club soccer for the Sporting Blue Valley ECNL 03/04 team and played for the Girls Academy and Development Academy previously. Wood was part of the squad to earn the 2017 Kansas State Cup Champion.
