Boise State adds San Diego State transfer Anna Toohey to 2023 roster

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State soccer added another attacking player for the upcoming 2023 season in transfer Anna Toohey, head coach Jim Thomas announced.

A native of Winston-Salem, N.C., Toohey spent two seasons at North Carolina State before transferring to San Diego State prior to the 2021 spring season.

“What we’re most excited about is to bring the kind of experience that a player with Anna’s journey can bring to the entire squad,” said Thomas. “Her ability is unparalleled. She’s produced at the highest level – and specifically at the Mountain West’s highest level – for years and now gets to bring that to our team and influence the next batch of players and help guide them to be ready to continue that on. That kind of addition to a squad is one that you can’t pass up on and one that has no bounds to its influence.

The forward was named the Mountain West Newcomer of the Year in her first season with the Aztecs after leading the league in assists while ranking second in points per game. Toohey earned a All-MW Second Team nod in 2021 after notching three goals and four assists.
