Amanda Duffy to step down as NWSL President, joining Orlando Pride front office

The National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) announced today that Amanda Duffy will step down as league President on February 15, 2020. Duffy joined the NWSL in 2017 as Managing Director of Operations and became Managing Director in 2018. She was named President of the NWSL in January 2019.

“It has been an honor and a privilege to be a part of the growth and development of the NWSL,” said Duffy. “The league has made significant strides over the last three years and I look forward to its continued development as the global destination for our world class athletes and passionate fans.”

As league President, Duffy played a pivotal role in the stabilization and continued growth of the longest-running women’s professional soccer league in the United States. During her tenure, the NWSL secured two expansion teams, set record-breaking attendance numbers, signed long-term partnership agreements, and increased player compensation. She oversaw the implementation of the broadcast deal with A+E/Lifetime and the launch of NWSL Media, the league’s commercial arm, and secured global media agreements with ESPN. Under her guidance, the league experienced tremendous progress across all aspects of its business and took important steps to further enhance the league’s global leadership and long-term viability.

Duffy will continue her role with the league through mid-February and a commissioner will be named upon completion of the ongoing search process lead by Nolan Partners.

Duffy will remain in the NWSL as the Executive Vice President of Orlando Pride. In her new role, she will head all operations related to the Orlando Pride – both front office and technical – reporting directly to Orlando City SC CEO Alex Leitão and representing the Pride on the NWSL Board.
