Nico Quashie joins Villanova men’s soccer as graduate transfer from Virginia Tech

VILLANOVA, Pa. – Dynamic forward Nico Quashie will enroll at Villanova in August as a graduate transfer from Virginia Tech. Quashie is a native of Springfield, Va., who played club soccer for BFC Barca 97 Elite before joining the Hokies in 2016.

Quashie’s best season at Virginia Tech came in 2018 when he started 19 games and tallied 14 points, including six goals and a pair of assists. He appeared in five games – earning four starting assignments – in 2019, registering an assist in a match against Loyola Marymount.

“Nico is a high-quality character young man from a tremendous family,” stated Villanova head coach Tom Carlin. “We are very fortunate to get such a top-level attacking player from the ACC this late in the game.

“Nico has the potential to score a lot of goals for our program. His experience, maturity and attacking presence will be a game changer for our 2020-21 roster.”

This announcement brings to 11 the total of Villanova newcomers for 2020-21. Quashie joins fellow graduate transfers Evan Koenig and Sindri Bjornsson along with incoming freshmen Akinjide Awujo, Jack Bonas, Dominic Cyriacks, Jorge Garcia, Branden Johns, Owen Kulick, David Ogbonna, and Luke Pompliano.
