Lionel Messi scored his 73rd goal of the season in Pep Guardiola’s final match with Barcelona in the Copa del Rey final against Athletic Bilbao.
Pedro scored first (and last), but Messi’s strike to put Barcelona up 2-0 put an astounding cap on a remarkable season. All three goals came within the first 25 minutes of the match, and Barcelona sent Pep out on a high note as they won the title 3-0.
Messi had 50 goals in league and 23 outside of league play.
