Capital Fall Classic providing club environment, Jeff Cup qualifying

(Via Richmond Strikers) –In November, some 500 teams from throughout the East Coast and beyond will make their way to Richmond, Va. to play in the Capital Fall Classic, one of the region’s most competitive end-of-season tournaments.

For those competing in the Premier Divisions, the prize is even sweeter: a guaranteed berth in the 2019 Jefferson Cup, the flagship event of the Richmond Strikers Tournament Series.

While the top flights battle for Jefferson Cup qualification, the Capital Fall Classic also provides an appropriate level of competition for all of the teams attending the event across all age groups, including in the recently added Recreational Weekend.

“Teams and clubs can always expect the best fields and complexes as well as good competition for all levels of teams,” said Richmond Strikers Tournament Director Steve D’Adamo. “It is truly a club event – where many teams from the same club can attend and experience a club environment.”

In recent years, teams have used their experience in the Capital Fall Classic to not only qualify for the Jefferson Cup (an event which annually turns away over 500 applicants), but also go on post strong showings at the prestigious tournament as well.

Last season, Herndon Youth Soccer’s Youth Thunder Black side won the U-16 Girls Premier Division title at the 2018 Capital Fall Classic, and then went on to concede just two goals over the course of three games in the highly competitive Superior Black Division of the 2018 Jefferson Cup.

The same could also be said for Soccer Vision Academy Porto, who won the Boys U-10 Championship at the CFC and then had another strong performance back in Richmond in March.

The 2018 Capital Fall Classic will begin on November 3-4 with the Rec Weekend.

Tournament action will pick up next with the Boys Weekend (November 10-11), followed by the Girls Weekend (November 17-18). The tournament itself has featured some of the top sides from the Mid-Atlantic including Florida, Maryland, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, and from the host state Virginia.

All matches will be played in the Richmond, Virginia area and at the following parks: Striker Park, West Creek Fields, River City Sports Plex, Glover Park, Capital Park, Dorey Park, Longdale Fields, and Mary B. Stratton Park.

Applications for the event are set to close on Monday, October 1.
