SoccerWire is publishing Q&A articles with players who have Featured Profiles in the SoccerWire Recruiting Directory. The series allows players to share their stories on the college recruiting process, playing the game at the international level, travel and high school soccer, and their passion for the beautiful game.

In this edition we will showcase Madison Ferroni, who plays for FC DELCO in the ECNL, and has verbally committed to play NCAA Division I soccer for DePaul University in 2027.

What made you verbally commit to DePaul University?

I verbally committed to DePaul because of the amazing coaching staff, the strong soccer program, and the great business program. I had never been to Chicago before my visit and I really fell in love. After my visit I knew that I could see myself learning and growing as a player at DePaul.

What was the recruiting process like and what did you learn about yourself while going through it?

Recruiting was definitely a challenging process but it all worked out in the end. There were definitely a lot of ups and downs along the way. I just kept focusing on playing hard and sending out film as often as I could. I sent so many emails. I learned that not everything will go perfectly so you need to go into it with a positive mindset and an open mind. Across my club team none of us ended up where we thought we’d be pre-June 15 but we all found our perfect fits.

How do you feel your strengths on the field will help the Blue Demons?

I’m excited to learn from Coaches Michele, Brendan and Peter and the existing team. As a goalkeeper I really try to bring strong communication skills, decisiveness and flexibility. I’m ready to work hard and contribute to the team. I’m excited to be a part of the Blue Demon team in 2027 and grow as a player over my four years at DePaul.

What are your favorite subjects in school and what do you think you would like to study in college?

I took some business classes at my high school and that helped me to decide that I want to study business in college. My favorite business classes were sports marketing and accounting. I have also really liked my history classes.

What has been your experience been like playing in the ECNL for FC Delco?

Playing for FC Delco has made me into the player I am today. I had some amazing team and goalkeeper coaches. They have helped me improve so much over the past four years. I have also found my best friends in my teammates. We work hard and also have fun together. It’s been great playing in the ECNL. It’s a high level of competition and it’s fun getting to play against other great athletes. We play in the North Atlantic conference so the level of competition is high and at least one team has made the final four every year. Last year we won the League Cup and made it to the ECNL Playoffs. It was such an amazing experience with my team.

What are your favorite pair of cleats that you have owned?

I have a pair of bright pink and purple custom Nike cleats that are my favorite. They match my kit and my gloves.

If you could give one piece of advice to a younger player that wants to play at a high level, what would it be?

The sacrifice is worth the reward, keep pushing yourself to be a better player. Put in the work and others will notice even if it doesn’t always feel like it.

Is there anyone that you would like to give a shoutout to who has helped you both on and off the field?

My parents were my biggest supporters. They always believed in me and made sure that I was able to do everything that I wanted to make this dream come true.Thank you Coaches Julian and Dave for all of your support and feedback. You pushed me to be a better player.
