U.S. Youth Soccer roundup: Flurry of regional, ODP tournaments begins
By Charles Boehm
U.S. Youth Soccer held its Region I ODP Tournament for boys and girls in the 1999, 1998, 1997, 1996 and 1995 (Under-13 through U-17) age groups in central New Jersey over the weekend, drawing a long list of college scouts to watch some of the most talented teams in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions.
Results and standings are still being posted and can be found here.
Elsewhere, the U.S. Youth Soccer Region III Presidents Cup took place at the Bryan Park Soccer Complex in Greensboro, N.C., featuring top boys’ and girls teams from across the South in U-13 through U-17 age groups. Tourney results and division champions are listed here.
Out west, the Region IV Presidents Cup opened yesterday in Arvada, Colo. and runs through Sunday, bringing together that region’s elite teams for keen competition in the same age ranges. See schedules and other details at the tournament’s home page.
That event marks the onset of an extremely busy period of U.S. Youth Soccer events across the nation, with regional and ODP events scheduled for every remaining day in June bar three weekdays at the end of the month. The summer calendar peaks in the final week of July, when ROck Hill, S.C. hosts the National Championships. Visit U.S. Youth Soccer’s website for further information.
