Georgetown men’s soccer summer round-up

WASHINGTON (Via Georgetown University) –  Members of the Georgetown University men’s soccer team are spending their summer on the pitch all over the country.  The team will open its fall campaign in August, but during the summer, many student-athletes are getting experience with different clubs.

JT Marcinkowski
U-20 U.S. Men’s National Team/Burlingame Dragons FC

Marcinkowki recently competed at the NTC Invitational in Carson, Calif., for the U-20 U.S. Men’s National Team (MNT).  The team went 3-0, and Marcinkowski played all 90 minutes of a 4-0 U.S. victory over Panama.  Outside of his time with the MNT, Marcinkowski is spending time with the Burlingame Dragons FC, a PDL affiliate for the San Jose Earthquakes of the MLS.  So far, he has appeared in one contest and had two saves to his credit.  The team is currently 5-4-2 and in second place in the Central Pacific Division.

Arun Basuljevic, Zach Knudson, Christopher Lema, Ethan Lochner, Kyle Zajec
New York Red Bulls U-23

All five Hoyas have seen time with the Red Bulls this season.  Currently the squad is 4-4-4 overall and in fifth place in the Mid Atlantic Division.  Basuljevic is leading the team in scoring with four goals and three assists in 12 games played and an impressive 973 minutes.  Lema has appeared in 10 games with one goal to his credit.  Lochner has played in eight contests with one assist on the season.  On defense, Zajec has played in 10 games totaling 409 minutes.  Finally, Knudson trained with the Red Bulls before coming to campus to prepare for the fall.

Brett Campbell
Reading United AC

Reading United is leading the Mid Atlantic Division with a mark of 8-3-1 overall.  Campbell has appeared in seven games with two goals and two assists in 305 minutes of play.

PJ Koscher
Baltimore Bohemians

Baltimore is third in the Mid Atlantic Division with a record of 5-4-2.  Koscher has appeared in four games on defense and played 129 minutes this summer.

Edson Martinez
Portland Timbers U-23s

The Timbers are 2-6-4 overall, and Martinez has appeared in nine of those contests for 465 minutes.  The squad is in last in the Northwest Division, but just three points out of third place in the competitive division.

Peter Schropp
Des Moines Menace

The Des Moines Menace are leading the Heartland Division with an overall record of 9-2-1.  Schropp has played in two games for the squad in the backline.

Ifunanyachi Achara
GPS Portland Phoenix

Portland is leading the Northeast Division with a record of 7-2-1.  Achara is leading the way with six goals in eight games and 454 minutes played.

Other Hoyas have been training with teams throughout the country.  Jon Azzinnari has spent time with New Jersey Copa FC of the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL).  Bakie Goodman and Matt Ledder are both training with the DC United U-23s.  Finally, Declan McCabe has been playing with the Real Boston Rams, an affiliate club of the New England Revolution.
