New Jersey ODP teams have strong showing in Region I tournament

New Jersey Olympic Development Program teams did well during the 2012 Region I tournament over the weekend.

In the Boys Under-17 bracket of the 2012 Region I ODP Tournament, two teams from New Jersey, one from Pennsylvania and another from Virginia finished atop their respective brackets.

New Jersey Youth Soccer NJ Club Hamilton scored 14 goals in winning three games to finish in first place in Bracket A, including a 7-1 win over New Hampshire 1995 Boys and Eastern New York YSA 1995.

In Bracket B, New Jersey Youth Soccer 1995 Boys also won all three of its games, twice by 2-1 margins over Soccer Maine ODP 1995 Boys and Eastern New York YSA 1995 B, and 3-0 over Maryland State YSA 1995.

Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer 95 Boys won Bracket C and gave up just one goal in the process, while in Bracket D, VYSA 95 Boys won all three of its games against West Virginia SA 1995, New York State West YSA 1995 and Soccer Rhode Island ODP 95 Boys.

New Jersey clubs also found success in U-16 Boys play, with New Jersey Youth Soccer NJ Club-Kearny, with two wins and a draw, and New Jersey Youth Soccer 1996 Boys, by winning all three of its games, won Brackets A and B, respectively.

Masaschusetts YSA 1996 White finished 2-0-1 to win Bracket C and Eastern Pennsylvania YSA 96 Boys (3-0-0) won Bracket D.

In Boys U-15, New Jersey Youth Soccer 1997 Boys finished atop Bracket A, giving up just one goal in winning all three of its games. In Bracket B, Eastern New York YSA 1997 B shutout all three of its opponents and scored nine goals total in its wins. In Bracket C, Massachusetts YSA 1997 White finished 2-0-1 and in first place, while VYSA 97 Boys also won Bracket D with a 2-0-1 record, defeating Vermont ODP 1997 Boys 8-0 and Delaware YSA 1997 3-0, while tying New York State West YSA 1997 2-2.

In Girls U-17, Connecticut Junior CT95 Girls dominated its group, outscoring its opponents 12-0 and picking up three wins. VYSA 95 Girls also picked up three wins in finishing first in Bracket B, outscoring its opponents 12-5. PA West, meanwhile, finished in first place in Bracket C with a 2-0-1 record, while in Bracket D, New York State West YSA 1995 won all three of its games.

In Girls U-16 Blue play, all four teams in Bracket A scored six goals, but VYSA 96 Girls, with a strong defensive effort, won all three games and gave up just a single goal. In Bracket B, Eastern New York YSA 1996 A outscored its opponents 10-1 in three wins, while in Girls U-16 Red play, New Jersey Youth Soccer 1996 Girls won all three of its games to finish in first place in its bracket.

It was more New Jersey in Girls U-15 play, as New Jersey Youth Soccer 1997 Girls finished on top of Bracket A with a 3-0-0 record, outscoring opponents 11-1. In Bracket B, VYSA 97 Girls scored the most goals in the group, 14, but lost to first place Eastern New York YSA 1997 B 3-2. VYSA defeated Soccer Maine ODP 1997 Girls 4-0 and Connecticut Junior CT97 Girls2 8-0.  In Bracket C, PA West 1997 dominated its group in winning all three games and outscoring opponents 16-1. Maryland State YSA 1997 finished second in the group and outscored its opponents 15-2. The key match was the opener, in which PA West 1997 shutout Maryland State YSA 1997 1-0.

Boys and Girls U-13 and U-14 results were not immediately available.
