What made you decide to verbally commit to UNC, and how do you feel your strengths on the field will help the Tar Heels?
I decided to verbally commit to UNC because the competitive environment, high-level coaching, and tradition of excellence make it the perfect place to grow as both a player and a person. From my first time on campus, I knew that Chapel Hill was where I wanted to be. I’m drawn to the team’s culture, values, and the opportunity to compete with and learn from some of the best players in the world.
On the field, I bring intensity, versatility, and a relentless drive to win. I’m committed to doing whatever it takes to help the team, whether that means creating chances, defending, or stepping into any role that’s needed.
What was the recruiting process like and what did you learn about yourself while going through it?
The recruiting process was a very exciting experience. Each showcase helped me grow and learn more about myself. The number of scouts and coaches on the sidelines during games, showcases, and even team practices really helped to elevate the energy and level of play. I realized that nobody is perfect, everyone makes mistakes, and that’s normal. What really matters is how you respond. One bad touch isn’t the end of the world, it’s your fight, effort, and ability to bounce back that shows who you are. I learned that giving everything for your team and staying mentally tough are just as important as your technical ability. I also learned that being nervous is a normal feeling, but it’s important to balance those nerves with confidence. When you believe in yourself and feel comfortable on the field, you play smarter, more creative, and have more fun. Confidence gets you through everything, even the highest-pressure moments.
What are your favorite subjects in school and what do you think you would like to study in college?
My favorite subjects in school are science and math. I enjoy learning how things work and solving problems. Because of that, I’m leaning toward studying something in the field of exercise and sport science. I’m really interested in how the body moves, trains, and recovers, especially because that can help me as an athlete. UNC offers a lot of incredible programs, so I’m still exploring my options and excited to find which path suits me best.
What has your experience been like playing for Match Fit Surf?
Playing for Match Fit has been an amazing experience. Being with Match Fit has pushed me and provided opportunities, such as USYNT ID events, ECNL Conference Cup, and Gotham FC training and showcases. Every coach is dedicated and truly invests their time and energy into helping each player and team succeed. It’s been incredible to train alongside some of the top talent in the area, which has pushed me to grow every day. I want to specifically thank Coach Dom Bucci, who has always believed in me and continues to challenge me to be my best, on and off the field.
What are your favorite pair of cleats that you have ever owned?
My favorite pair of cleats are my current ones, Nike Mercurial Superflys. They are custom, with a black base, pink designs, and pink laces.
If you could give one piece of advice to a younger player that wants to play at a high level, what would it be?
Confidence is everything. When you believe in yourself, you play more freely, enjoy the game more, and forget mistakes faster. The best version of you is shown when you’re having fun and trusting yourself. Never lose the love for the game, it’s what fuels you, keeps you motivated, and pushes you to play at the highest level. Also, don’t compare your journey to anyone else’s. Everyone’s path is different, and progress looks different for every player. Focus on your own growth, stay patient, and keep showing up, even when things get tough.
Is there anyone that you would like to give a shoutout to who has helped you both on and off of the field?
I’d love to give a shoutout to my entire family for always standing by me, supporting me unconditionally, and dedicating so much of their lives to helping me chase this dream. Most of all, I want to thank my mom and dad. From driving me to every practice and game to being my biggest fans, they’ve always been there. But more than that, they’ve taught me how to be a better person and player, and I’m endlessly grateful for that.
