The International Development Academy (IDA) – a full-time Academy for driven athletes aged 15-22 who want to develop and grow their game abroad – is proud to share its most recent professional success story: Jeremy De Leon, who has made history by signing with Real Madrid.

Jeremy De Leon joined IDA from Puerto Rico Surf in 2020. A year after arriving at the IDA Academy in Valencia, opportunities began to open for him. De Leon was called up to the Puerto Rico National Team for the 2022 CONCACAF Men’s Under-20 Championship Qualifier, where he scored the winning goal against Bermuda.

Soon after, he signed his first professional contract with CD Castellon in the third tier of Spanish soccer. De Leon spent the past two years with Castellon, making his mark on the team with 43 appearances and 2 goals, while catching the eyes of his dream team: Real Madrid.

On January 24, 2024 the 19-year old signed a professional contract with Real Madrid. De Leon’s two-year contract will last until 2026. He is set to join Madrid’s reserve team, Real Madrid Castilla. The team plays in the Segunda Division B and is managed by Real Madrid Legend, Raúl González Blanco. De Leon made his debut with the team on January 28th against Linares Deportivo. He will be the second Puerto Rican to ever wear a Real Madrid jersey.

With Academies in Spain, England, Rome, and the U.S., IDA gives players a daily professional environment with a full-time training schedule partnered with academic opportunities. IDA’S staff is devoted to helping all players achieve their goals, whether it be professional or collegiate aspirations. To read more about De Leon’s journey, click here.
