Players That Impressed: ECNL Girls San Diego National Event (Fall 2025)

The ECNL San Diego National Event took place over the weekend, featuring a strong group of teams from across the U12-U15 age groups.
Competition took place at Surf Cup Sports Park from October 11-13, with a total of 220 ECNL Boys and ECNL Girls teams in attendance. On the girls side, many of the country’s premier rising prospects from the Class of 2029 and Class of 2030 were in attendance, representing the best clubs from the West Coast and beyond.

Fifi Garcia | Midfielder
So Cal Blues 2012 (CA)
Widely-regarded as one of the best athletes in the country for her age group, Garcia was the 2023 Sports Illustrated ‘Sports Kid of the Year‘ for her prodigy-level achievements in multiple sports. She’s only gotten better since then, as she turned in yet anther dominant performance at ECNL San Diego. Garcia led So Cal Blues 2012 to a perfect 3-0-0 record and a 21-1 goal differential, and she earned MVP honors in the ECNL San Diego Spotlight Game. (HIGHLIGHTS)

Saige Scarborough | Forward
Davis Legacy 2011 (CA)
The U.S. U-15 Girls National Team attacker contributed to a strong showing for her Davis Legacy 2011 side, which won 2 of their 3 games in San Diego. She can create scoring chances in a wide variety of ways, whether she’s beating defenders with the ball at her feet, or finding creases in the defense off the ball. Scarborough also found the net on a tough play amid a ton of traffic in front of the net during a victory over Legends FC, finishing off a well-placed cross sent in by Khadeeja Ghozlan. (WATCH)

Ella Vanstone | Goalkeeper
San Diego Surf 2011 (CA)
Going up against some high-flying offenses, Vanstone and the San Diego Surf back line did well to limit the scoring in a trio of fast-paced contests. Surf posted an unbeaten 1-0-2 record, highlighted by a 3-0 clean sheet victory over Colorado Rush. Vanstone showed her outstanding reflexes and instincts on a 1v1 breakaway save against Mustang SC, in a gritty back-and-forth game that ultimately ended in a 2-2 draw. (WATCH)

Aubrey Taylor | Midfielder
San Diego Surf 2011 (CA)
The dynamic midfielder showcased her creativity and goal-scoring prowess as the reigning ECNL National Champion San Diego Surf 2011 squad racked up 7 total goals over 3 games against challenging opponents. The U.S. U-15 Girls National Team member came through with an impressive goal on a free kick during a 3-0 win against Colorado Rush, driving an improbable shot just inside the near post from an extremely challenging angle, taken from way over to the right side of the field. (WATCH) She scored on another free kick against Mustang SC, sending in a high, twisting shot which tucked under the crossbar and gave the opposing keeper no chance to make the save. (WATCH)

Kensington McGrath | Forward
San Diego Surf 2012 (CA)
The rising star continued to shine for the reigning ECNL National Champions, as San Diego Surf 2012 throttled their opponents on their home fields. Surf outscored the competition by a dominant 15-0 margin, as McGrath and the offense fired on all cylinders. McGrath has a technical skillset well beyond her years, with a scary ability to weave through opposing defenders and score goals with a level of sophistication rarely seen at the U14 level. (WATCH)

Stella Fallis | Midfielder
San Diego Surf 2012 (CA)
On a dominant weekend for San Diego Surf 2012, Fallis provided one of the top highlights of the event, launching an absolute banger into the net from way outside the box during her side’s 9-0 rout of Eastside FC. (WATCH)
Class of 2029
The Class of 2029 defender helped guide her team to a solid 2-1-0 record, which included a pair of clean sheet victories over Colorado Rush Academy Blue (1-0) and California Odyssey SC (4-0). Roddick is a key piece for LA Breakers with a physical presence on the back line and on the wings, who also does a great job of connecting possessions from the back.
Morgan Van Puffelen | Forward / Midfielder
Mustang SC 2011 (CA)
Mustang SC 2011 is a rising force in the ECNL NorCal Conference, currently boasting a 7-1-3 overall record. Van Puffelen is a strong contributor on the attacking side for this talented team, with a promising combination of speed, strength, technical skills and soccer instincts. On one goal in San Diego, Van Puffelen powered her way through the teeth of the defense, before executing a perfect give-and-go on her way through the box, as she buried a shot in the bottom left corner of the net. Isabella Nguyen | Goalkeeper
Bay Area Surf 2011 (CA)
Stood strong between the posts on an overall successful weekend for Bay Area Surf 2011, which included a pair of victories over Legends FC San Diego (4-0) and So Cal Blues (2-1). A member of last season’s US Club Soccer id2 National Selection Team, Nguyen has a lot impressive aspects of her game. She’s quick and athletic with excellent range and jumping ability, and can fully extend to stop shots from post to post.

Camille Medina | Forward / Midfielder
Pateadores SC 2011 (CA)
One of the most dynamic players in the 2011 age group this weekend, Medina helped lead Pateadores to a 2-1-0 record as the team compiled 8 goals over 3 games. Medina scored a tough goal in heavy traffic from a challenging angle amid several defenders, in addition to providing her teammates with some outstanding assists over the course of the weekend. On one of her assists, she made a devastating juke against a defender before delivering a perfect through ball in between the opposing center backs, on another impressive play in traffic which had very little margin for error. Anjali Nimmagadda | Forward / Midfielder
San Diego Surf 2011 (CA)
Nimmagadda has great chemistry with her teammates and has an overwhelming ability to get behind the defense, whether she’s crafting a strategic run off the ball, or sprinting straight through an opening in the back line. Her full skillset was on full display during a comeback effort against Mustang SC, as she received a brilliant long range pass through traffic from outside back Hayley Geruntino, made a lightning quick turn toward the goal near the top of the box to burn past her defender, and blast home a powerful shot. Kate Beason | Defender / Midfielder
San Diego Surf 2011 (CA)
A strong contributor for the back-to-back ECNL National Champion San Diego Surf 2011 team, Beason is an extremely crafty player who brings a big spark to the defense and in the possession game. She had a highlighted reel nutmeg of a KC Athletics player to maintain possession for San Diego Surf, avoiding what could’ve been an immediate breakaway scoring opportunity in the other direction. Beason also made some great passes out the back, setting up scoring chances and goals throughout the tournament. (WATCH)
