No. 14 Boston College upset 1-0 by crosstown foe Boston University
The first major upset of an ACC team this season occurred early Monday evening when the Boston University Terriors took down 14th ranked Boston College (1-1-0) 1-0 on an early goal from junior Derek McCaffery.
The Eagles had won 11 of the last 12 matches against the Terriors going into the night, including five in a row. However, on Monday the score was indicative of the play on the field. BU out shot BC 16-11 for the match – read the full box score.
BU is a borderline top 100 program, so this match, especially considering the rivalry factor is not a significant red flag for Boston College. No shots on goal for Kyle Bekker in this one, which is obviously problematic for the Eagles. We’ll see if they can turn it around against a very formidable opponent in Fairfield, a 2011 top 40 team, when they play next on Sunday at 7 p.m. in Connecticut.
