Xavier University women’s soccer adds two to 2019 class

CINCINNATI (Via Xaxier University) – Xavier women’s soccer head coach Nate Lie announced a pair of additions to the 2019 signing class. Halle Rogers and Maddie Thiss join the Musketeers next fall as part of the Xavier class of 2023.

Rogers is a defender from Medina, Ohio with experience playing for Walsh Jesuit and Cleveland Futbol Club.

A four-year starter at Walsh Jesuit, Rogers won a pair of state championships, in 2015 and 2016, as well as a district title in 2017 and a sectional title in 2018, collecting a record off 78-4-2 over four years.

Rogers, who tallied five goals during her high school career, was named to the 2017 United Soccer Coaches Fall High School Girls All-America Team in 2017 and the United Soccer Coaches Fall Girls High School All-Central Region Team in 2018.

Rogers plans to major in Sociology at Xavier. She is the daughter of Thomas and Melissa Rogers.

Thiss is a defender/midfielder from Cincinnati, with experience playing for Sycamore High School and Ohio Elite ECNL.

At Sycamore, Thiss spent four years as a member of the varsity team, playing forward an midfield. She collected 28 goals and 28 assists during her high school career, including an 11 goal, 11 assist senior season in which the Aves finished third in the GMC and advanced to the district semifinals.

Thiss was a three time All-GMC First Team selection, earning all-city in 2018 and 2019 and All-State Second Team honors as a senior.

Thiss is the daughter of Helene and Mark Thiss. Helene played soccer at the University of Wisconsin. She has two older siblings, twins Ben and Ashley, who play soccer collegiately at Radford and Cleveland State, respectively.
