Wake Forest men’s soccer announces Fall 2019 schedule

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (Via Wake Forest University) – Wake Forest University head coach Bobby Muuss announced the 2019 men’s soccer schedule, featuring 11 regular season games at Spry Stadium and eight games against NCAA Tournament teams from 2018. [+FULL SCHEDULE]

“I’m thrilled to release our 2019 schedule,” Muuss said. “We’re excited to host 11 matches here at Spry, a place I consider to be one of the best college soccer venues in the country. My goal in this year’s schedule is to challenge ourselves outside of an ACC schedule which might be the most difficult we’ve had, in an effort to prepare our guys for postseason play.”

ACC opponents include NCAA Tournament qualifiers Syracuse (Sept. 21), NC State (Oct. 11), North Carolina (Oct. 18), Notre Dame (Oct. 26) and Louisville (Nov. 1), as well as Pitt (Sept. 13), Clemson (Sept. 28) and Boston College (Oct. 4).

The regular season opens on Aug. 30 against last year’s No. 14 seed UCF at Spry Stadium, followed by another home game against traditional power Creighton on Sept. 1.

Other tough non-conference competition includes a trip to James Madison (Sept. 17), an Elite Eight qualifier last year, and a home game against NCAA Tournament foe High Point (Oct. 8).

Wake Forest will play four of its last five regular season games at home, including against William & Mary, North Carolina, Loyola (Md.) and Notre Dame, before ending the year with a trip to Louisville.

The preseason gets underway with a pair of exhibitions, traveling to Furman on Aug. 18 and at home against Army West Point on Aug. 24.

Wake Forest will be looking to defend its four-consecutive ACC Atlantic Division titles in the 2019 season.
