WAGS: Season winding down, fall titles clinched
By Jimmy LaRoue
VYS Patriots Black finished off its season with a 2-0 win over NVSC Jr. Majestics 99 to clinch first place in WAGS U-13 Division 1 with an 8-1-1 record, completing the season outscoring opponents 22-3.
Freestate North Red, SAC United Premier, LMVS Patriots Red and SYC Storm White all have a chance to finish second in the division, depending upon the outcome of their remaining matches. At 5-0-3 and with two matches to play, Freestate would seem to have the inside track, but one of its matches is against LMVS Patriots Red (5-1-3) on Monday evening. The fall season concludes this weekend in the division with the exception of one match–SYC Storm White vs. ASC Elite 99.
In U-14 Division 1, ASA Azzurri, with a 1-0 win last week over SAC Premier Blue, has clinched a division title with just one match remaining on its fall season schedule. VYS Thunder Black (7-2-0) clinched second place with a 5-0 win last week over SAC Premier White, and TSC SIAFU finished third with a 6-2-1 record after a 1-0 win over Reston United 98.
Herndon Freedom (8-0-1) has already clinched the U-15 Division 1 title with one game remaining, and will close out its fall season against second place FSC Xtreme (5-3-1) Sunday. Herndon won the first matchup 4-0 and has not given up more than one goal in any of its matches.
In High School Division 1, four teams still have a chance to win the fall title with this weekend being the last full weekend of games in the division. LMVS Patriots (5-2-0) leads the division with 15 points through seven matches, with Chantilly Revolution 95 (4-1-1) in second, Herndon Curve (4-3-0) third and NVSC Jr. Majestics 94 (3-1-1) in fourth.
The closeout schedule in the division is as follows:
