(Via VSA) – Virginia Soccer Association (VSA) has announced Garrett Budd as the new Director of Coaching Education.

Budd, a current VSA staff member, will be expanding his role to help support the continued education of VSA Premier and Grassroots coaches. He holds a USSF A License, USSF Grassroots Instructor License and is a senior member of the VYSA State Coaching Education Staff and will begin his new role August 1.
“Garret is an outstanding coach educator that has provided great support to me and the club over the past five years,” said Matt Lacey, Executive Director. “He is someone we respect and believe he can provide our coaches with a unmatched level of support in their development. Unlike most clubs his sole focus will be on developing the coaches as he will not be coaching a team.”

The objective for his role is to provide more support to the club’s premier and younger coaches, to implement the VSA player development plan.

“I am extremely excited to be joining the club in this capacity and working with all of the VSA coaches,” Budd said. “Over the past 10 years I have developed a passion for coaching education and look forward to developing our educational programs for coach development to ensure the continued success of all VSA players.”

As part of his role as the Director of Coaching Education, Budd will spend on-field time with VSA Staff to help guide their development as a coach and a leader along with teaching two USSF Grassroots Licenses per year for our recreation coaches and the one USSF D License per year for our travel coaches.
