The U.S. U-18 entered the match having played to two ties, posting solid performances against Slovakia and Poland. Head coach Javier Perez’s squad continued its steadfast path against Portugal. The teams were evenly matched, with each team managing two shots on goal and playing to a scoreless draw in regulation. Portugal’s game-winner, an unfortunate own goal for the U.S., fell in the first minute of stoppage time.
