MEXICO CITY (Via U.S. Soccer) – The Under-17 Men’s National Team finished up its three game set at the 2018 Four Nations Tournament with a 1-1 draw against Chile. The draw comes two days after the USA fell to Mexico 2-0.

U.S. Soccer Development Academy and San Jose Earthquakes forward Cade Cowell scored the lone goal for the USA Sunday and the second goal of the tournament since Alfonso Ocampo Chavez’s strike against Argentina.

USA 0, Mexico 2: Against the host nation, the USA was unable to recover after an Israel Luna strike in the 25th minute gave Mexico a 1-0 lead. With the U-17s pressing numbers forward to even the score line late in the game, El Tri countered and Eugenio Pizzuto put the game out of reach in the 88th minute.

2018 U-17 Men's National Team

USA 1, Chile 1: In the USA’s final match of the tournament, it took 76 minutes for either team to get on the score board.

Receiving the ball at the top of Chile’s 18-yard box, first-time U-17 MNT call up and Seattle Sounders FC midfielder Daniel Robles surveyed the area as three Chile defenders approached him. Making a run into the box from the left wing, Cade Cowell outran his marking defender and caught Robles’ attention. Robles proceeded to slip a perfectly timed ball into Cade’s path and behind the defense. Cade took a touch before striking the ball with his left, low and hard passed the goal keeper and into the far corner netting.

Four minutes later, Chile tied things up on a Alexander Aravena score.

The 1-1 score line would go untouched for the remainder of regulation and overtime, giving both teams a single point.
