VINA DEL MAR, Chile (Via U.S. Soccer) – The U.S. Under-17 Men’s National dropped its final group game of the 2015 FIFA World Cup 4-1 to Chile, a result that eliminated the team from the tournament.

The U.S. came out hungry for goals and was the first to find one with Brandon Vazquez burying a strike in the 10th minute. Ten minutes later, Chile captain Marcelo Allende evened the score line with a game-tying goal.

The U.S. battled to the final whistle, but could not capitalize on its chances, while the hosts found the net three times to take the win. The U.S. finishes the tournament with a 0-2-1 record in fourth place in Group A.

In the other Group A game, Nigeria, which came into the night having already clinched the group’s top spot, was defeated by Croatia 2-1. Croatia finishes second in the group with the result and Chile takes third.

Goal Scoring Rundown:
USA- Brandon Vasquez (Luca De La Torre), 10th minute: It was a quick, changing, series of events that started the run that led to the score. The U.S. possessed the ball then turned it over near the top of the box, but cut out a Chile pass to get it back. The ball ended up at the feet of De La Torre, who made a few hard steps toward the box and passed over to Vazquez on the left. A defender stepped in front, but only slowed the pass, which rolled through to Vasquez, who tucked his shot past the goalkeeper and into the right corner to give the MNT the lead. USA 1, CHI 0

CHI-Marcello Allende 20th minute: Chile played the ball into the box and though it had a pair of opportunities to clear the ball to safety, the USA failed to do so. Allende took advantage, running onto the ball and blasting a shot into the right side to level the game.USA 1, CHI 1

CHI- Gabriel Mazuela (Yerko Leiva), 52nd minute: Seven minutes into the second half, Chile switched momentum in its favor. Leiva played a long rolling through ball from distance into the box. Pulisic tracked it to the left post and dove to fall on it, but could not secure it. Mazuela, who tracked it hopped to it and beat Pulisic to the ball, tapping in from close range to give Chile the lead. USA 1, CHI 2

CHI- Gonzalo Jara 86th minute: With the U.S. pressing to try to earn an equalizer Chile countered and found itself with numbers when it got the ball back to the other end. Jara took the ball to the box and elected to finesse a bender from 22 yards, which proved to be class, curling into the left corner past the diving Pulisic. USA 1, CHI 3

CHI- Camilo Moya, 93rd minute: With the U.S. in an all-out attack, Chile was freed for a counter. Off the break it was Moya that ended up with it in the box and ripped in a game-icing fourth goal. USA 1, CHI 4 (FINAL)
