U.S. U-15 Boys National Team defeats Club Atletico Talleres 5-1

ROSARIO, Argentina (Via U.S. Soccer) – The U.S. Under-15 Boys’ National Team defeated Club Atletico Talleres 5-1 in the first match of the 2016 International Festival of Futbol in Argentina. USA midfielder Efrain Alvarez scored a hat trick while assisting on George Bello and Cade Hagan’s goals.

Although Talleres’ Mateo Namani scored in just the third minute of the match, Alvarez equalized in the 29th minute and the U.S. controlled the rest of the match from that point on.

In the 34th minute, Alvarez assisted Bello’s goal to gain the lead. Just a minute later, Alvarez scored a brace in quick succession to widen the score line. A few minutes after USA’s third goal, forward Cade Hagan added to the mix, giving the U.S. a 4-1 lead and Alvarez his second assist in the 39th minute. But Alvarez wasn’t done quite yet; he capped off the hat trick in the 41st minute, ending the game with a 5-1 USA victory.

At the beginning of the tournament, Club Atletico Talleres replaced San Lorenzo, who was on schedule to play the U.S. The U-15s will play Newell’s Old Boys on April 6 at 2 p.m. ET.
