U-17 Men’s National Team falls 2-1 in friendly against U.S. Soccer Development Academy side

The U.S. Under-17 Men’s National Team fell 2-1 against U.S. Soccer Development Academy side Crew Soccer Academy U-17/18 on Monday at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium on the campus of Ohio State University.

Crew Soccer Academy, which is an academy affiliate of the Columbus Crew of Major League Soccer, get on the scoreboard first as midfielder and University of Michigan commitment Rylee Woods scored in the 17th minute to give CSA a 1-0 lead that it would carry into halftime. Woods scored on his own rebound after his initial shot was saved by U.S. goalkeeper Jeff Caldwell.

Defender Alex Bumpus doubled the lead for Crew Soccer Academy in the 62nd minute when he headed a cross from Noah Hutchins into the back of the net.

The U.S. U-17s, which defeated the U.S. Soccer Development Academy’s St. Louis Scott Gallagher Missouri 3-2 on Sept. 8, cut the lead in half in the 77 th minute on a goal by forward Ahinga Selemani.

Selemani, who played the 2011-12 Development Academy season for the Michigan-based Crew Soccer Academy Wolves, another affiliate of the Columbus Crew, beat a defender and curled a left-footed shot past CSA goalkeeper Carter Richardson.
