Twenty-eight player USMNT roster selected for training camp and fall friendlies

ATLANTA – U.S. Men’s National Team head coach Mauricio Pochettino will bring 28 players to the training camp for the upcoming September and October international matches against Peru, Chile, Mexico and Canada as the USMNT kicks off a new cycle ahead of the 2030 FIFA World Cup. Players will begin reporting to Atlanta on September 20.

The roster blends experience with potential. A total of 13 players from the 2026 FIFA World Cup team will compete in the fall window, with a dozen prospects earning their first callup to the U.S. Men’s National Team at the senior level.

“This is the beginning of a fresh start for everyone and we are excited in these first matches to bring a group of experienced players along with some young talents who have great potential,” Pochettino said. “It will be important that they all understand our culture, our way of working, and of course the principles of how we want to play. Most importantly, they must show the commitment to representing the country in the way our fans deserve.”

The quartet of fall matches will be the first in the new chapter of the USMNT after Pochettino agreed to a new contract that will keep him as head coach through 2030.

The slate begins with USA-Peru on September 26 at Inter.co Stadium in Orlando, Fla. Kickoff for the Fan Appreciation Match is 4:30 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on TNT, truTV, HBO Max, Telemundo, Universo, and Peacock.

Three days later on September 29, USA-Chile, the Impact Match presented by New York Life, kicks off at 7 p.m. CT (8 p.m. ET) from Energizer Park in St. Louis, with the match against La Roja to be shown live on TNT, truTV, HBO Max, Universo, and Peacock.

The classic USA-Mexico rivalry will resume on October 3 in Glendale, Ariz. at State Farm Stadium. Kickoff from the home of the Arizona Cardinals is 7 p.m. MT (10 p.m. ET) and will be broadcast on TNT, HBO Max, Telemundo, Universo, and Peacock.

Closing out the four-match window, the USMNT will take on northern neighbor Canada on October 6 at Allianz Field in St. Paul, Minn. USA-Canada, presented by American Airlines, kicks off at 7 p.m. CT (8 p.m. ET), with the match shown live on TNT, truTV, HBO Max, Universo, and Peacock.

All four matches will be carried live on radio as Westwood One Sports delivers English language commentary while longtime partner Fútbol de Primera has the Spanish language call.

A NEW CHAPTER BEGINS

The USMNT returns to action for the first time since a run to the Round of 16 at FIFA World Cup 2026. Under the management of Mauricio Pochettino and his staff, the U.S. set a record for most tournament wins by a head coach. The U.S. also won its group outright for only the third time in U.S. Men’s National Team history, then defeated Bosnia and Herzegovina, 2-0, in the Round of 32 — the program’s first knockout-stage victory since 2002 — while setting a new USMNT record for wins in a single World Cup.

Poised to begin his first full cycle, Pochettino will be looking to continue strengthening the player pool while identifying emerging talents in the program. Since Pochettino took over in October of 2024, 62 players have earned a cap, coming from 16 different leagues in 12 different countries. The four upcoming matches will provide an opportunity to introduce new players to the program, while continuing to foster growth with returning players.

EUROPEAN TRAVELERS

The current USMNT roster includes 16 players from European clubs. Of those, nine players are competing in a European competition this season. In the UEFA Champions League, PSV Eindhoven duo Sergiño Dest and Ricardo Pepi are competing in the group stage. Additionally, Mathis Albert and Alex Freeman are competing in the UCL with Borussia Dortmund and Villarreal, respectively. With the group stage of the UEFA Europa League recently starting, the English Premier League is represented by Crystal Palace teammates Zavier Gozo and Chris Richards, alongside midfielder Tyler Adams with AFC Bournemouth. Yunus Musah, Malik Tillman, Auston Trusty are also competing in the Europa League with AC Milan, Bayer Leverkusen and Celtic.

YOUTH ON DISPLAY

The average age of the 28-man squad is 22 years and nine months, more than four years younger than the roster selected for FIFA World Cup 2026. The average age of the 13 uncapped players on the roster is 19 years and six months. The U.S. Youth National Teams have played a major role in the development on players both past and present, leading to younger players receiving opportunities to shine on the international stage. The strength of the pathway was highlighted by a then 21-year-old, Alex Freeman becoming the sixth youngest American goalscorer at a World Cup.

Five of the uncapped players named to this roster were part of the 2025 U-20 FIFA World Cup (Cole Campbell, Zavier Gozo, Peyton Miller, Brooklyn Raines and Frankie Westfield) while three players were part of the 2025 U-17 FIFA World Cup (Mathis Albert, Julian Hall and Cavan Sullivan).

MLS TO USMNT
In a roster featuring new and returning players, MLS clubs contribute 12 out of the 28 squad members. From that group, a total of 9 will have the opportunity to earn their first cap with the National Team. The three players from MLS who have been in with the USMNT before are 2026 World Cup veterans Chris Brady (Chicago Fire), Matt Freese (New York City FC), and Miles Robinson (FC Cincinnati). The MLS teams are led by Philadelphia Union with three players, followed by New England Revolution and Red Bull New York with two players apiece. Uncapped goalkeeper Brian Schwake and Nashville SC currently sit atop the MLS standings.

FAMILIAR FACES

As the new cycle begins, two USMNT players will return to the National Team setup for the first time in 2026, with defender George Campbell and midfielder Yunus Musah getting call-ups. Competing in England with West Bromwich Albion FC, Campbell returns to the USMNT following his debut in January 2025 against Venezuela. Musah with AC Milan, returns to the USMNT with 47 caps to his name and is looking to make his first appearance since March 2025 against Canada.

• With 58 caps apiece, Tyler Adams and Antonee Robinson are the most experienced players on the roster, followed by Yunus Musah (47), Sergiño Dest (44), Gio Reyna (43), Ricardo Pepi (42), Malik Tillman (35) and Miles Robinson (41).
• Five goalscorers from FIFA World Cup 2026 return: Sebastian Berhalter, Alex Freeman, Gio Reyna, Malik Tillman and Auston Trusty.
• Midfielder Malik Tillman has played the second-most minutes of any USMNT player in 2026 with 611, registering two goals and one assist during the period.
• Thirteen players return from the squad that took part in the FIFA World Cup 2026.

• Sixteen players come from European clubs, with six from England, three from Germany, two from Netherlands, and one apiece from Denmark, France, Italy, Scotland and Spain.
• Striker Ricardo Pepi has netted three goals in six matches for PSV Eindhoven in the Eredivisie, making him the second-leading scorer on the team so far.
• Defender Sergiño Dest was named Player of the Match in PSV Eindhoven’s UEFA Champions League opener after scoring the equalizer against Shaktar Donetsk.
• After joining Middlesbrough FC in the summer, midfielder Sebastian Berhalter is the club’s second-leading goal contributor with two goals and two assists in all competitions.
