TCU Soccer finalizes deep 2024 signing class with 14 freshmen and 4 transfers

FORT WORTH – TCU women’s soccer head coach Eric Bell has announced the 2024 signing class featuring 14 incoming freshmen and four transfer student-athletes.

“I thought that going into the recruiting process for this group we wanted to find some really good players that would have an immediate impact on the program and I think we did that,” said Bell. “We were able to compliment this group with some graduate transfers that are going to help us with maturity and experience to hopefully get us over the top to compete for the Big 12 title and make a run in the NCAA Tournament.”

Five of the incoming freshmen reside in Texas, while two come from California, Colorado and Oregon.

New Jersey, Louisiana and Florida are home to the rest of the freshmen. The transferring student-athletes are coming from Alabama, Minnesota, Rutgers and Saint Louis.

Elly Harrington (Winter Garden, Fla.), Rylie Monahan (San Diego, Calif.), Kaela Martinez (San Diego, Calif.), Ainsley Moy (Freehold N.J.), Jordan Whiteaker (Littleton, Colo.), Cate Sarinopoulos (Boulder, Colo.) and Cameron Patton (Austin, Texas) all enrolled in January.

The rest of the freshmen class which arrives in the fall includes: Evie Baker (Fort Worth, Texas), Sarah Bonnecaze (Baton Rouge, La.), Morgan Brown (Wylie, Texas), Abigail Cox (Portland, Ore.), Olivia Geller (Southlake, Texas), Sadie Gardner (Eugene, Ore.) and Blake Olivier-Hodgson (Missouri City, Texas).

Transferring in and joining the Horned Frogs were Hannah Alexander (Lake Travis, Texas; Alabama), Sara Brocious (Voorhees, N.J; Rutgers) and Megan Plaschko (Eagan, Minn; Minnesota) who made their way to TCU in January. Caroline Kelly (Kearney, Mo; Saint Louis) will join the program in the fall.

Two-time SEC Academic Honor Roll Member… set school record for shutouts in 2019 at Lake Travis High School and broke her own record in 2020… elected captain for both of her club soccer teams under coach Albert Flores… earned a Bachelor of Science in psychology from Alabama in 2.5 years.

Played club soccer at FC Dallas coach Matt Grub… scored 13 goals and was ECNL first-team all-Texas conference in 2022-23.. 800m AAU Junior Olympic Qualifier in 2023… 4x100m TAPPS 5A State Champion… was a four-time academic all-state honoree… four-year member of National Honor Society.

Sarah Bonnecaze • Midfielder • Baton Rouge, La. • LA TDP Elite GA Team • Episcopal School of Baton Rouge

Named a finalist for the Louisiana soccer Gatorade Player of the Year… earned the Baton Rouge Star of Stars Female soccer Player of the Year honor… selected as the Episcopal School Female Athlete of the Year… honored as the State’s Offensive MVP, All-District MVP and was first-team All-State… played club soccer for LA TDP Elite GA team and head coach Kiran Bulock… named All-District twice as a member of the varsity basketball team.

Sara Brocious • Midfielder • Voorhees, N.J. • Players Development Academy • Eastern Regional High School • Rutgers

Named to the 2023 Big Ten Players to Watch list… played in and started all 20 matches in 2023… registered two goals and three assists… tallied five goals and three assists for 17 points in 2022… member of the 2022 United Soccer Coaches All-North Region third team… selected to the 2022 All-Big Ten second team… two-time Academic All-Big Ten… earned 2022 Big Ten Distinguished Scholar recognition… scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 Big Ten Championship win over Wisconsin in 2021… started all 16 games as a freshman in 2021.

Named Newcomer of the Year in District 9-6A… earned MVP honors as a sophomore in District 9-6A… two-time first-team All-Texas Conference ECNL in 2022 and 2023… played club soccer for FC Dallas and head coach Matt Grubb… member of  the U17 2023 Texas Conference Championship team.

Abigail Cox • Midfielder • Portland, Ore. • North Plains and Portland Thorns Academy • Jesuit High School 

Four-year starter at Jesuit High School… led team to the 2022 OSAA 6A State Championship and took home MVP honors… named the Metro League Co-Player of the Year in 2023… earned first-team all-metro and all-league honors twice… member of the 2023 Youth Girls All-America Team… named to the ECNL second team… won the OSAA 6A State Championship and was named the MVP… earned Oregon Player of the Year as a senior… was the captain for high school and ECNL team… earned second team ECNL Northwest Conference accolades… honored with the Jesuit High School Scholar Athlete award… high school team was ranked No. 1 a majority of the season… played club soccer for the Portland Thorns and coach Tracy Nelson.

Earned first-team all-league honors and served as team captain her senior year… named All-League honorable mention twice… member of the 2021 Lake Oswego team that won the Southwest Conference… played club soccer for the Portland Thorns and coach Tracy Nelson… totaled 11 shutouts and allowed just two goals during the 2022-23 club season… led team to Sweet 16 Champions League appearance… 2022-23 ECNL Northwest Conference Champions… helped club team go undefeated during the 2022-23 season, ranked fifth nationally by ECNL.

Olivia Geller • Goalkeeper • Southlake, Texas • FC Dallas • Southlake Carroll High School

Joined the freshman class of 2024 after reclassifying from class of 2025… ranked as the No. 1 goalkeeper and No. 34 overall player in the IMG Top 150 by… member of the Southlake Carroll team that won the state championship in 2022 where she started at goalkeeper as a freshman… earned All-City honors by the Dallas Morning News and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram… represented the U.S. Youth National Teams for the U15, U16 and U17 age groups… trained with professional teams including the Houston Dash and the KC Current of the NWSL… played club soccer for FC Dallas and coach Gareth Evans… founder of the Kick Onward Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization that covers club and kit fees for disadvantaged female soccer players in the U12 through U19 age groups… graduated cum laude from Southlake Carroll in three years and earned National Honor Society distinction.

Concluded her Saint Louis career tied for third in goals (31), seventh in points (75), eighth in shots (184) and tied for 10th in game-winning assists (six) on the Billikens’ career lists… named to the 2023 United Soccer Coaches All-Region second team… earned A-10 All-Conference first-team honors… named to the 2023 Hermann Trophy Watch List… included on the 2023 United Soccer Coaches preseason Player to Watch list… No. 43 on TopDrawerSoccer’s Preseason Top 100… played in all 24 games making 22 starts as a senior… tallied 12 goals which was tied for 24 nationally and second in the A-10 last season… named the A-10 Offensive Player of the Year in 2022… all-conference first-team selection as a junior… A-10 Championship All-Tournament team selection as a sophomore… three-time member of the A-10 Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

Named the Vype Private School Player of the Year (2023-24)… recognized as the Houston Chronicle Private School Player of the Year (2023-24)… led her team to its first-ever SPC title in school history in 2023… named to the All-SPC team… played club soccer for Albion Hurricanes and head coach Rafa Brazo… was a part of the U17 USYNT Player Pool  two-time U.S. Regional Identification Training Camp Invitee… eight-time US Identification Training Camp participant… named an International Champions Cup ECNL all-star… 10-time USATF Junior Olympic All-American.

Invited to the U.S. Soccer U-18/19 Women’s National Team Training Camp… participated in number US Soccer WNT training camps… called up for an Identification Center for the National Women’s Soccer League, San Diego Wave FC in January 2023… made varsity as a freshman at Vandegrift High School and was the only freshman to do so… led her team to the Texas 6A State Championship… named first-team all-region and all-district… played club soccer for Lonestar and coach Sophia Mundy.

Megan Plaschko • Goalkeeper • Eagan, Minn. • Eagan HS • Minnesota 

Named Academic All-Big Ten in 2023… honored as the Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Week (Sept. 5)… named to the Big Ten Preseason Player to Watch list… finished the 2023 season with seven shutouts and one combined helping Minnesota to eight shutouts last season… fourth all-time in Minnesota’s record book with 26 career shutouts… ranked fifth all-time in goalkeeper minutes (5,760)… has a career goals against average of .906 in 65 games played… collected 188 saves over her four years at Minnesota.

Named to the U19 Women’s National Team player pool in 2024… played club soccer for the Colorado Rush and head coach Tim Schulz…honored as the Colorado Rush Player of the Year in 2023… won the 2022 GA Champions League with Colorado Rush… took home MVP honors in the 2021 Colorado State Cup.

Earned All-American honors by the United Soccer Coaches in 2023… named the Colorado Player of the Year by United Soccer Coaches… honored as the Colorado Class 4A Player of the Year in 2023… named the Jefferson County League MVP and Defensive Player of the Year… earned Dakota Ridge High School’s Female Athlete of the Year award in 2023… led Dakota Ridge High School to a 4A state championship in 2023… three-time US Soccer YNT Identification Center invitee… won the Colorado State cup in 2021 with Colorado Rush while playing for Tim Shulz.
