TAMPA, Fla. (Via Super Y League) – Based in New Jersey, Cedar Stars Academy – Bergen County has been unveiled as a member of the Super Y League ahead of the 2019 season. The club will compete in the North Atlantic Division, which has seen extensive growth in recent years.

“The addition of Cedar Stars Academy to the competitive North Atlantic Division is tremendous,” said Dominic Colarusso, USL Manager of Youth League Growth & Development. “The region has been bolstered by distinguished and successful clubs like Massapequa Soccer Club and Manhattan Soccer Club in recent years, and Cedar Stars Academy is a club that brings with it more than 2,000 active male and female athletes. By becoming a member of the Super Y League, Cedar Stars Academy has given those players the opportunity to enhance and refine their skill set during the summer.”

Cedar Stars Academy currently has nine branches throughout the northeast coast and extends to the Midwest with a branch in Houston, Texas. Two of these branches, Cedar Stars Academy – Bergen County, New Jersey (Boys U12 – U17) and Cedar Stars Academy – Monmouth County, New Jersey (Boys U12-U19/ Girls U13-U19) are official member clubs of the United States Soccer Development Academy Program.

“As a DA member club, we have the best training and competition structure during the fall, winter and spring. By joining the Super Y League, we add the best competition environment for our players during the summer months,” said Santiago Cabrera, Cedar Stars Academy Coach. “Short term, we aim to maximize the potential of every player we have at the club. Long term, we aim to produce professional players to play within our affiliate clubs domestically and abroad. We have no doubt that competing in the Super Y League will help us achieve both of those objectives.”

Cedar Stars Academy has several exclusive partnerships and affiliations with professional and pre-professional clubs domestically and internationally via President George Altirs.

“With Cedar Stars Rush recently unveiled as the PDL’s newest team, it was natural for our younger age groups to join the Super Y League,” said Cabrera. “We are thrilled to be working with an organization with a proven history of growing the sport at an elite level in the United States.

“Joining the league enables our club to continue to solidify the youth-to-pro pathway for our talented young players. From the Super Y League to the PDL (Cedar Stars Rush) to the USL (Penn FC) and onto our affiliates abroad in Germany (MSV Duisburg) and Denmark (HB Køge), our players have a clear path to follow, and it starts at the youth level with the Super Y League.”

Cedar Stars Academy – Bergen County becomes the second club announced as a new member for the 2019 season, joining Massapequa SC.
