(Via Richmond Strikers) – Over 50 clubs and counting will be represented at this year’s Capital Fall Classic, a Jefferson Cup qualifying event hosted by the Richmond Strikers. Applications for the event are set to close on Friday, September 15.

Again for the 2017 Capital Fall Classic, teams who win Premier Divisions will be offered guaranteed acceptance into the 2018 Jefferson Cup. Previous Premier Division winners have gone on to earn top finishes in the prestigious spring showcase event, which turns away hundreds of applications annually.

The 2017 Capital Fall Classic will begin November 4-5 with the first edition of the Rec Weekend, which will be limited to Richmond Strikers and Chesterfield Strikers teams during an in-house only launch.

Travel teams will enter the mix November 11-12 with the Boys Weekend, followed by the Girls Weekend from November 18-19. The fall end-of-season event annually hosts a wide variety of teams from throughout the East Coast and beyond, providing teams with unfamiliar opponents, tactics and playing styles. The 2016 tournament hosted teams clubs from Florida, Maryland, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, as well as throughout the host state of Virginia.

Games are played on some of the top natural grass and artificial turf fields in the greater Richmond area, including at Striker Park, West Creek Complex, River City Sportsplex, Bon Secours Washington Redskins Training Center, Capital Park, Dorey Park,  Mary B.
