NORFOLK, Va. (Via Old Dominion University) – Old Dominion women’s soccer head coach, Angie Hind, announced the Monarchs 2019 schedule on Thursday afternoon.

“After a solid spring season, we are now geared towards planning and preparation for the fall,” said Hind. “I am excited again about the balance in our fall schedule. Due to our location we are fortunate to have many strong non-conference opponents that we can schedule and again look forward to some local rival games against VCU, George Mason, William & Mary and ECU – who I feel are all very good teams.”

The Monarchs have a total of 17 matches scheduled, with eight being played at the ODU Soccer Complex plus one exhibition. ODU will commence the season with seven non-conferences matches, before heading into Conference USA play, which entails a total of 10 matches.

“Looking at our C-USA schedule, we kick it off on the road against the 2018 champions, North Texas and then the very next week, we are at home against LA Tech, a team that has put us out the last two conference tournaments, so we I don’t think we will struggle to have the team focused and motivated for the start of conference play,” Hind explained. “Also, within the league play, we have some of the stronger opponents at home this year, which I hope will be a great advantage to us.”

Old Dominion will take on five in-state opponents in the regular season: George Mason (home), Liberty (away), Longwood (home), VCU (away) and William & Mary (home).

Senior Day for the Monarchs will take place on Sunday, Oct. 27 at 12:00 p.m. ET against UTEP.

The 2019 Conference USA Tournament will be hosted by North Texas on Nov. 6-10. In 2018, ODU qualified for its fourth consecutive Conference-USA Tournament.

“We will be young this year, but with that can bring both a fresh look and also a renewed excitement that is certainly tangible within the group,” Hind concluded.
