Northeast Conference teams clash in ECNL play

By Jimmy LaRoue

The Elite Clubs National League’s Northeast Conference clubs are set to clash this weekend with all eight teams in action.

SoccerPlus Connecticut plays World Class Saturday, while Connecticut FC faces PDA. On Sunday, the matchups are reversed, with SoccerPlus Connecticut taking on PDA and Connecticut FC going up against World Class FC.

In other conference action, Scorpions SC hosts East Meadow and Albertson Fury on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. FC Massachusetts hosts the same two teams on opposite days.

Standings in each age group could see shuffling depending upon the outcomes.

In Under-18s, FC Stars of Massachusetts, at 9-0-2 and 2.64 points per game, is, by the slimmest of margins, ahead of PDA (7-1-0, 2.63 ppg). Albertson Fury is not too far behind at 6-0-2 and 2.25 ppg.

The Under-17s could see a shakeup at the top of the standings depending on the outcome, as PDA (7-0-1, 2.75 points-per-game) is narrowly in first place ahead of Scorpions SC (9-1-0, 2.70 ppg).

In the U-16 age group, FC Stars (9-1-1, 2.55 ppg) is more than four-tenths of a point ahead of PDA (5-0-4, 2.11 ppg), with Connecticut FC at 6-2-2 and 2.00 ppg.

PDA’s U-15s (9-0-0, 3.00 ppg) are still undefeated and looking to stay that way, with FC Stars its closest challenger at 8-2-1 and a 2.27 ppg average.

It’s a close race at the top of the U-14 age group, with PDA (11-1-1, 2.62 ppg) and FC Stars (12-2-0, 2.57 ppg) fighting it out for the conference lead.

Southeast Conference play resumes this weekend for U-14s, with Virginia Rush facing CASL Chelsea Ladies and Atlanta Fire taking on Birmingham United Saturday. In an matchup of Virginia teams, Southeast Conference’s Richmond Strikers host Mid-Atlantic Conference’s FC Virginia.
