No. 1 Maryland men to host Virginia Tech in ACC quarterfinals today
Top-seeded Maryland kicks off the 2012 ACC Men’s Soccer Championship with a quarterfinal match against No. 9 seed Virginia Tech Tuesday. The game is slated for 7 p.m. at Ludwig Field.
The Terps (14-1-2, 6-1-1 ACC) fell at No. 18 Wake Forest 4-2 Thursday after surrendering a pair of goals following a red card to senior defender London Woodberry. John Stertzer and Christiano Francois accounted for Maryland’s scoring.
Virginia Tech scored three unanswered goals to upset No. 8 seed NC State Monday at Ludwig Field.
The Terps are seeking their first tournament championship since 2010 and third in the last five seasons.
