Michigan Rush adds Jeff Shuk, Greg Thompson to coaching staff

(Via Michigan Rush) – Michigan Rush Northville has announced the addition of Jeff Shuk and Greg Thompson to the coaching staff.

Shuk will come on as a staff coach and Director of Goalkeeping beginning in Fall 2016. Thompson will serve as the Athletic Development Director.

shuk2Shuk comes to the Rush after previously serving as the Goalkeeper Director at AC Millan Detroit. Prior to AC Milan Detroit, Shuk was with the Rochester Soccer Club for 11 years, serving as the Director of Coaching and Technical Director during his tenure. Shuk holds a United States Soccer Federation (USSF) “A” License as well as Goalkeeper and National Youth License. He also is the lead Goalkeeper Coach Instructor for Michigan State Youth Soccer Association (MSYSA) Coaching Education Staff. He also holds a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Advanced National License as well as on the NSCAA Academy and goalkeeper staff. Shuk’s playing experience includes stints with the Detroit Wheels in the USISL and the Detroit Arsenal in the USYSA and NPSL. Currently he is a goalkeeper coach with the Toledo United in the Premier League of America.

ThompsonAs Director of Athletic Development, Thompson will implement a new athletic development program that will serve the overall physical development the club’s players. Topics include but are not not limited to: ACL prevention program, increased balance, agility, speed, and quickness.

Thompson joins Rush after previously serving as the Athletic Development Director at AC Milan Detroit for the past 5 years. Before Thompson was at AC Milan Detroit, he worked with the Dexter Soccer Club and Livonia Youth Soccer Club as their Director of Coach and Player Development. Thompson was an assistant coach with the men’s soccer team at Schoolcraft College from 2011 to 2015. He also served as the Girls Varsity Head Coach at Detroit Country Day for 16 years, winning a state championship and Coach of the Year award during his tenure. Thompson holds a USSF “A” License and a NSCAA National Advanced License. He is a staff instructor for GAIN Conference with Vern Gambetta, Physical Educator in the Farmington Public Schools and has a Master of Arts degree in Physical Education from Wayne State.
