Loudoun Soccer College Showcase to feature top area youth teams next spring
Leesburg, VA (Via Loudoun Soccer) – The Loudoun Soccer College Showcase, presented by Steigerwald, Gordon, and Koch Wealth Advisors, returns in early March. The tournament offers elite youth soccer teams the opportunity to participate in a late-winter tournament preparing them for the 2015 Spring season. The event also gives players a chance to showcase their talents to over 50 college coaches.
The Loudoun Soccer College Showcase will take place February 27 to March 1, 2015 at Loudoun Soccer Park and Evergreen Sportsplex, both located in Leesburg, Va. Additional fields will be used if necessary in the Loudoun County area. Elite travel teams, both boys and girls, from ages U15 to U19 are eligible to compete in the tournament.
The tournament continued to grow in 2014 when it attracted 66 teams from the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. Nationally ranked boys and girls teams have been represented during the last 2 years, including the ’98 Loudoun Boys and Girls Red teams, both of whom qualified for the 2014 US Youth Soccer National Championships in June.
Tournament Director Dave Bucciero says organizers expect the tournament to be even bigger this year, with 80 teams or more expected to attend. “Our continuing commitment is to deliver a product that elevates our Showcase to one of the best tournaments in the East. We are actively promoting our tournament and doing everything we can to provide the highest level of competition for each team that attends”.
More than 50 coaches have attended the tournament in the past from Division I, II, and III colleges and universities, including George Mason, Navy, Seton Hall, and Virginia Tech. “We make a special effort to fine tune the game schedule to assist college coaches with their scouting process when they come to our Showcase”, said Bucciero. “We want participating players to be noticed, with the idea that no player returns home without having the opportunity to showcase their talents in front of a panel of coaches. Collegiate coaches are provided with all the necessary contact information for each player in the Showcase along with a comfortable atmosphere throughout the weekend.”
Each team will play three games during the weekend. Competition is limited to bracket play.
