Light slate for Dev. Academy over Memorial Day holiday

It’s a light schedule for Development Academy teams over the Memorial Day holiday, as just 18 clubs are in action over the weekend.
Crossfire Premier and Vancouver Whitecaps FC have already taken the field, with the two clubs’ Under-18s going at it in a contentious Northwest Division matchup that Crossfire won 4-0. The U-18 matchup featured three red cards and four yellow cards among the two teams.
Crossfire (6-5-3 division, 12-8-6 overall) went up in the 12th minute on a goal from Rafael Sanchez, and were ahead 2-0 at the break on a goal from Jacob Hallgrimson in the 32nd minute. Crossfire got two more goals in the second half, from Conner Pichette in the 50th minute and David Gebert in the 77th minute. Vancouver (9-2-2, 16-5-3) remains in first place by a single point over De Anza Force.
In the U-16 match, first place Vancouver (11-1-1, 16-5-3) took a 4-1 decision over Crossfire (4-8-2, 5-17-4).
CASL Chelsea FC Academy and North Carolina Fusion’s U-16s and U-18s were also on Thursday’s schedule. CASL’s U-16s are in a second place tie with Virginia Rush, each just one point behind first place Charlotte Soccer Academy.
In U-18s, Baltimore Bays Chelsea (5-0-1, 15-4-2) will look to extend its first place lead in the Mid-Atlantic Division in its Saturday matchup against Potomac (0-3-2, 1-12-7), though FC Delco (3-1-2, 11-4-6) will have a chance to keep pace or close the gap with a win Sunday against PA Classics (2-2-2, 10-7-4).
