Jefferson Cup Interview (U-17): CESA 94 0:1 CUP Crew Juniors Gold
Day one of the Jefferson Cup saw a brilliant, well-fought battle between two of the top teams in U17 Championship. The game between Cincinnati United Premier, the top team in Ohio, and CESA 94 Premier of South Carolina, the top team from the Palmetto State, was a match that saw both squads have several clear chances on goal, but CUP took its best one, with Caelan Hueber putting home a glancing header into the far side of the goal after Daniel Richtand sped down the left flank and sent in a driven cross.
The coaches of both squads, John McGinlay of CUP Crew Juniors Gold and Russell Shelley of CESA 94, took time after the match to talk about their team’s performance, their impressions of the Jefferson Cup and more.
Also, did you know that McGinlay’s team is affiliated with Major League Soccer club the Columbus Crew? For more MLS coverage, especially with the season starting today, be sure to frequently check out TheSoccerWire.com.
