(Via GPS) – Global Premier Soccer has announced that the 2019 GPS Memorial Day Tournament has become an officially sanctioned event by the U.S. Soccer Development Academy.

The 2018 edition of the tournament saw over 1,000 teams from across the United States and Canada convene in Massachusetts, making it the largest one-weekend soccer tournament in the country.

The Development Academy’s recognition further expands the ability of the GPS Memorial Day Tournament to provide the highest level of competition for all teams. All GPS Memorial Day DA brackets will fall in line with the USSDA recommendation and therefore, teams will play 3 games only (no finals) on Friday, Saturday (rest Sunday) and Monday.

These brackets will be open to U12 to U18 Boys and U13-U18 Girls with elite teams from ECNL, NPL and EDP will also participating, ensuring the top competition locally and regionally is represented.

“We are always looking to provide the best experience possible at all of our events,” said GPS National Tournament Director James Hamblin. “This event is the cornerstone of our tournament calendar and the Development Academy sanctioning is part of our continued effort to provide opportunities for all levels of competition”

The 2019 GPS Memorial Day Tournament is scheduled to begin on May 24th with the final championship game being held on Monday the 27th.  The 2018 edition of the tournament drew in 200+ coaches representing schools from DIII to DI.
