Georgia strengthens back line with signing of transfers from USC and Kansas

ATHENS, Ga. – The University of Georgia soccer team added to its 2025 roster with the addition of transfers BK Harris (USC) and Assa Kante (Kansas), as announced by head coach Keidane McAlpine.
BK Harris | Defender | USC | New Albany, Ohio
Harris joins Georgia after appearing in 29 matches with 18 starts over two seasons at USC but was also a member of McAlpine’s final Trojans roster in 2021. Last season, she scored her first career goal in USC’s 3-1 victory over Wisconsin in the NCAA Third Round, followed by her first career assist in the Trojans’ 2-2 result against Wake Forest in the Regional Final. During the year, she started 17 matches with 1,409 field minutes, including 60+ in 12 of her starts.
In her prep career at New Albany High School, Harris tallied 55 goals and 33 assists over two seasons, earning All-America and Conference Player of the Year honors. Previously, she was named All-District and All-Conference in her sophomore season. She was invited to the U.S. YNT U-14 training camp in 2017 and played for Ohio Premier in club competition.
Harris graduated from USC this spring with a bachelor’s degree in Law, History, and Culture.
Assa Kante | Defender | Kansas | Overland Park, Kansas
Kante joins Georgia after appearing in 33 matches with 28 starts over three seasons at Kansas, starting 19 of 20 matches last season. During last season, Kante was part of a backline that only allowed 20 goals, and a .112 opponent shot percentage, helping the Jayhawks win the Big 12 Tournament and reach the NCAA Tournament. In her 2022 freshman season, she scored her lone career goal against Drake.
Prior to Kansas, Kante won a Kansas Class 5A state championship at Saint Thomas Aquinas High School, earning All-State and All-Conference First Team honors and Conference Defender of the Year. For Kansas Rush Soccer Club, she won a Kansas State Cup championship and was invited to the GA Winter Showcase.
