ECNL, Army National Guard partner up

The Army National Guard has partnered up with the Elite Clubs National League to become its official military branch.

The ECNL and Army National Guard partnership, the announcement states, will help the ECNL continue to offer the best competition and development platform for youth female soccer players in the United States, and will increase the Army National Guard’s exposure and accessibility to the future leaders of America.

The Army National Guard will be a sponsor of ECNL National Events and other ECNL programs during the 2012-2013 season, and will work with the ECNL to develop and promote other grassroots soccer initiatives for youth female players.

“ECNL provides the National Guard with a tremendous opportunity to reach high caliber female soccer players,” SFC David Therrell said in a news release. “This partnership gives ARNG the ability to inform these players about benefits and opportunities that can help prepare them for their futures.”

Said ECNL commissioner Sarah Kate Nofsinger:

“We are honored to be working with the Army National Guard and to have their support in providing opportunity for female players in the ECNL. The Army National Guard’s focus on developing leaders with high personal character aligns with the goal of competitive athletics to serve as a platform for personal development.”
