Development Academy: McLean Youth Soccer picks up pair of wins

By Jimmy LaRoue

McLean Youth Soccer picked up a pair of wins in Development Academy play, scoring a 4-1 win over the Richmond Kickers in U-18 play, and a 7-0 win in U-16 action.

McLean’s Rahim Dorsey opened the scoring in the 20th minute, and Gregory Boehme added a second in the 35th minute.

The Kickers’ Finnlay Wyatt cut the lead in half two minutes later, but Matthew Ledder extended McLean’s lead to 3-1 in the 51st minute, and Joseph McCreary capped off the match with a 90th minute goal.

In the U-16 match, William Metler’s hat trick, and Iain Holmes’ brace led McLean to a shutout win over the Kickers, with Samuel Palencia and Jefferson Valle adding goals. Metzler has a team-high seven goals.

The Kickers’ U-18s recovered from its Saturday loss to play NJSA 04 to a scoreless tie, but its U-16s, despite a better performance, fell 3-1 to NJSA 04. Julian Ngoh opened the scoring for the Kickers in the 14th minute, but three minutes later Shaun Keegan tied the match, and Andres Camacho-Tenreiro scored what proved to be the game-winner in the 37th minute. Joshua Goldstern added another for NJSA in the 67th minute. The U-16 match featured six yellow cards between the two teams.

The matches close out 2012 for the Atlantic Division teams, who will resume academy play in late-January.
