D.C. United takes on Potomac, Baltimore Bays Chelsea in local Dev. Academy clash

By Jimmy LaRoue

Three local clubs are set to clash this weekend, as Potomac and D.C. United’s Development Academy clubs will face off Saturday at the Maryland Soccerplex. United also plays Sunday against Baltimore Bays Chelsea on the grass of McDonogh High School’s Stadium Field.

Both United’s Under-16s and U-18s have played just one Mid-Atlantic Division match. United’s U-18s are 8-5-3 overall and feature balanced scoring, with both Patrick Foss and Collin Martin tallying five goals each, while the U-16s, led by Michael Seaton’s nine goals, are 9-5-2.

Potomac’s academy clubs don’t sport strong overall records – the U-18s are 1-9-5. Ronald Ventura leads the team with six goals. Potomac’s U-16s, with six-goal scorer Kevin Guzman, are 4-8-3, but like the U-18s, they have a clean slate in division play.

Baltimore Bays Chelsea U-16s are 8-6-2 and feature eight-goal scorer Patrick Koscher, while the club’s U-18 squad, at 11-4-1 overall, showcases nine goal scorer Yaw Amankwa.
