Two clubs promoted from NorCal NPL into ECNL Boys for 2022-23 season

RICHMOND, VA – ECNL Boys announced that the league has promoted California Odyssey and San Jose Surf to ECNL Boys Club Competition, marking the first two clubs to move from c to ECNL Boys.

Both California Odyssey and San Jose Surf will compete in the ECNL Boys Northern Cal Conference for the 2022-23 season.

“Throughout the 2021-22 season, California Odyssey and San Jose Surf have shown their quality in NorCal Premier competition,” said ECNL Boys Commissioner Jason Kutney. “Our league alignment with NorCal Premier supports club development and advancement by the way of competitive merit, creating an environment that celebrates on-field success. We are thrilled to bring these clubs into the fold and to have them as a part of our membership for the 2022-23 season.”

California Odyssey

“Odyssey has been a pioneer in competitive soccer in the Central Valley and in Northern California consistently since its inception more than two decades ago, and this move to join ECNL’s Club Competition platform is a continuation of the club’s foresight in improving its offerings to its membership,” said Vitalis Otieno, California Odyssey Technical Director. “The potential for growth on this platform to our full membership really excites us from a leadership standpoint and we feel it really made sense for us to pivot from where we were last season in the overall best interest of our club’s growth and development.”
