FC Cincinnati signs MLS NEXT Cup Playoffs standout to Homegrown Contract

CINCINNATI – FC Cincinnati have signed forward/winger Arquimides “Quimi” Ordonez (pronounced or-DOHN-ez) as a Homegrown Player. Ordonez, 17, has been added to FC Cincinnati’s roster and is available for selection for the remainder of the 2021 MLS regular season.

Ordonez has trained with FC Cincinnati’s first team throughout the 2021 season as well as the FC Cincinnati Academy U-19 team. The contract is for 3 years, with 2 one-year options.

“We are delighted to sign Quimi as our second FC Cincinnati Academy product to a first-team contract as a Homegrown Player,” General Manager Gerard Nijkamp said. “We saw continued growth from Ordonez throughout the 2021 season, as he spent time training with our first team roster, and in the MLS NEXT Cup Playoffs. Based on his performances and ability to adjust to a professional environment, we feel he has earned this opportunity within our roster.”

Ordonez joined FC Cincinnati Academy in the program’s inaugural 2019-20 season. He made a combined eight starts for the U-19 roster during the 2021 MLS NEXT season with three of those coming during the recent MLS NEXT Cup Playoffs. Prior to joining FC Cincinnati, Ordonez spent time with Kings Hammer Academy and Cincinnati United Premier.
