Reports: Bruce Arena to take over as USMNT head coach
Multiple media outlets have reported that LA Galaxy coach Bruce Arena is set to take over as head coach of the U.S. Men’s National Team, following Monday’s firing of Jurgen Klinsmann.

According to ESPN’s Taylor Twellman, the hire is in the process of being finalized, though an official announcement is not expected on Tuesday. Arena’s contract is likely to be between 18 months and two years, according to Twellman’s sources.
This will be Arena’s second stint as USMNT head coach. The National Soccer Hall of Famer was at the helm for the USA’s appearances at the 1996 Summer Olympics, the 2002 FIFA World Cup and the 2006 FIFA World Cup. He also led the team to CONCACAF Gold Cup championships in 2002 and 2005.
His MLS head coaching career includes runs with D.C. United (1996-1998), the New York Red Bulls (2006-2007) and most recently the LA Galaxy (2008-2016). He has coached teams to five MLS Cup titles, three Supporters’ Shield honors and has been named MLS Coach of the Year three times.
Prior to his professional and international coaching careers, Arena led the University of Virginia to five national titles during an 18-year run as head coach of the Cavaliers.
