U.S. U-15 GNT beats Mexico 3-2, winning 4 Nations Tournament title

MEXICO CITY, Mexico – The U.S. Under-15 Girls’ National Team made it three wins in three games at 4 Nations Tournament being held at the Mexico Football Federation High Performance Center, defeating hosts Mexico, 3-2, as forward Fifi Garcia bagged a first half hat trick. The result, after a 4-0 win over Uruguay and a 10-0 with over Paraguay, gave the USA the 4 Nations title.

The hat trick for Garcia gave her six goals for the tournament and she scored in all three matches.

Mexico made a comeback run in the 80-minute match, scoring in the 45th and 51st minutes off set plays, but the American defense held solid to see out the match.

The USA’s tournament victory was made even more impressive by the fact the young Americans were playing against teams that were mostly made up of players who are a year older.

The camp and matches were a part of the Federation’s continued focus on the U.S. Way philosophy, which emphasizes increased programming for Youth National Teams to create more opportunities for young players to advance through the pathway to the senior National Team with the goal of representing their country at a world championship.
