Players to Watch: ECNL Girls Phoenix National Event (Fall 2026)

MVLA SC

The ECNL Girls Phoenix National Event is coming up November 13-15, as some of the nation’s best teams will go head-to-head in one of the most competitive tournaments of the Fall 2026 season.

ECNL Phoenix will feature over 200 teams across the U16-U18/19 age groups. It will serve as a major opportunity for the Class of 2029, as they prepare to enter their active recruiting window in the spring. Uncommitted Class of 2028 prospects will have another chance to impress college coaches, while the Class of 2030 will be looking to make strong impressions as well.

Ahead of ECNL Phoenix, here are some players to know for the tournament. Players are listed according to their graduation year.

Class of 2030

Kinsley Ozawa

Defender
CA

Ozawa has been a steady presence for the MVLA SC 2011 squad, serving as team captain while also providing consistent strong play on the back line and in the midfield, earning ECNL All-Confernence honors for the 2025-26 campaign. She’s mainstay in the US Youth Soccer ODP roster pool, making multiple rosters in the loaded West Region.

Class of 2029

Anne Marie Ashley

Midfielder
CA

This highly-decorated Class of 2029 midfielder has grown her profile in recent years, earning a spot on the US Youth Soccer ODP National Select Team last summer, after she stood out for the West Region on the ODP Interregional Team. Ashley competed for the USYS ODP All-Stars at the U17 Bundesliga level in Germany, and on the club side she helped So Cal Blues capture the 2026 ECNL Showcase Cup National Championship. She’s a composed and tactical holding midfielder who connects multiple lines of play and is often the catalyst for creating successful scoring chances.

Kate Tomsik

Midfielder
AZ

A versatile attacking talent for Arizona Arsenal’s U17 squad, Tomsik can play virtually any position in the midfield or up top as a striker. She excels in the midfield as a playmaker with her dynamic speed and field vision, creating scoring chances for her teammates while excelling on set pieces, delivering corners and free kicks with precision. She racked up 6 goals and 2 assists last season in ECNL Showcases, and will aim to continue piling up big numbers playing on her home turf at ECNL Phoenix.

Julia Molina

Forward
CA

After helping So Cal Blues capture the 2026 ECNL National Championship in the prestigious U15 Champions League bracket last season, Molina and her teammates are on a mission to repeat. One of many talented players on this National Champion squad, Molina is a highly-productive goal scorer who can play forward, center mid or on the wing. She brings elite level track speed to the soccer field, having broken Texas State Records for the 800 meter dash.

Alyssa Patino

Midfielder
CA

This ECNL All-Conference midfielder is a standout in the Northern Cal region, bringing a diverse skillset and a relentless motor to the field for California Odyssey’s U17 squad. Patino will make an excellent addition for an NCAA Division I program in 2029, as a player who does all the little things well who also has the physical talent and high-level speed, agility, strength and quickness to excel at a high level.

Taylor Hansen

Forward
UT

Hansen is a dynamic attacking playmaker known for her versatility, creativity, pace, and relentless work rate. She’s a longtime major contributor for Phoenix Rising FC Youth’s ECNL program, competing at the U16 level this season. She was selected to the US Youth Soccer ODP National Team last season and has previously earn invites to the U.S. National Talent ID Event, Girls Academy West Talent ID Event, and Seattle Reign FC Player to Pro Pathway.

Ashley Brubaker

Defender
GA

Brubaker is a tough and highly-accomplished defensive standout for Concorde Fire Premier’s U17 ECNL squad. She’s a previous All-ECNL Southeast Conference honoree who also shines on the high school side for Wesleyan School. She was named North Metro Soccer League Player of the Year in 2025.

Makena Mercer | Defender
MVLA SC U16 (CA)

An ECNL All-American and the 2025-26 Northern Cal Conference Player of the Year at the U15 level, Mercer is one of premier defensive prospects in the entire country for the Class of 2029. She’s a strong and physical player – bringing flag football experience to the pitch – who consistently dominates in 1v1 situations, while also bringing the speed and technical skills that make her into one of the most compelling players in her age group.

Morgan Van Puffelen | Forward
Mustang SC U16 (CA)

Van Puffelen secured First Team All-Conference honors in the ECNL’s Northern Cal Conference last season after another standout campaign for Mustang SC. She was selected for US Club Soccer’s id2 West Regional Training Camp this summer, and will be near the top of many recruiting lists for college coaches as she approaches her active recruiting window in 2027. She’s an electrifying attacking player who can score easily with both feet, bringing smooth dribbling skills and finishing ability.

McKenna Kann | Defender
Michigan Hawks U16 (MI)

Kann is a rising star for the nationally-renowned Michigan Hawks ECNL program, who checks virtually every box that college coaches look for in a modern defender. She couples her lockdown defensive abilities with world class technical skills, field vision and passing prowess, which makes her a dangerous asset on the attacking side when she wins possessions on the back line. She’s an ECNL All-American who helped lead her team to a 2nd place finish at the ECNL National Finals last summer.

Class of 2028

Vivian Baker

Goalkeeper
CA

Baker, a Louisville commit, is a standout 2028 goalkeeper who will be playing up with Bay Area Surf’s U18/U19 squad in Phoenix, continuing to test herself against older, top-level competition. A regular participant in U.S. Soccer Talent ID Centers, Baker is known for her elite shot-stopping ability, commanding presence in the box, and poise in high-pressure moments, highlighted by a pair of penalty-kick saves against powerhouse Solar SC during this summer’s ECNL Playoffs. With her strong communication and leadership from the back, Baker is poised to be one of the top goalkeepers to watch throughout the weekend.

This University of Houston recruit from the Class of 2028 is a key member of the FC Westlake U17 attack. Following a slow start to the season, the revamped FC Westlake squad has won 5 of their last 6 games, and they’ll bring some solid momentum to ECNL Phoenix. Stephenson is a tough matchup for opposing defenders, as she’s really unpredictable with the ball at her feet, attacking both the left and right sides with equal speed and technical precision.

Hadley Overton

Goalkeeper
TX

Overton is an uncommitted Class of 2028 goalkeeper for the Dallas Texans U17 ECNL side, who’s been rock solid between the posts in recent years. She’s off to another strong start this fall, recently turning in a phenomenal performance against reigning ECNL National Champion Real Colorado, as she secured the clean sheet in a 2-0 victory. (HIGHLIGHTS)

Mia Rabinovitz

Goalkeeper
CA

An uncommitted Class of 2028 goalkeeper for San Juan SC ECNL U17, Rabinovitz is coming off an undefeated Spring 20226 campaign, in which she helped guide her team to a 6-0-2 record, while playing every minute of those 8 games. Her team advanced all the way to the Elite 8 at the ECNL National Playoffs over the summer, and she’s ready for another big season this year at the U17 level.
