US Club Soccer announces details on expansion of id2 program for 2026-27

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The 2026-27 id2 programming cycle will be the largest ever as US Club Soccer expands to feature three age groups.

Previously, id2 programming focused only on the U-14 age group for each cycle; moving forward, both the U-14 and U-15 age groups will participate in id2 programming. The scouting process will now begin sooner, with id2 scouting evaluations beginning at the U-13 age group. However, U-13 players won’t be eligible for specific programming such as National Training and National Selection Camps until they reach the U-14 age group.

US Club Soccer is growing its scouting network to be the biggest in the country with more than 90 scouts contributing. Local and regional scouting since the start of the 2026-27 season has included: Player Development Programs (PDP); events within N1, ECNL Regional League and ECNL; showcases; and more. Last year, more than 12,000 players were scouted by US Club Soccer’s scouting network for the U-14 age group alone. While the scouting network grows and id2 programming opportunities increase, the id2 principles remain the same as they have since the program was founded in 2004. At its core, id2 is open to all players regardless of U.S. Soccer affiliation or lack thereof, and there is no cost to players to be identified for or participate in the id2 Program.

2025-26 programming included national and regional events, as well as localized scouting in club environments, where players are most comfortable. As players were monitored, US Club Soccer hosted two national camps in February and April/May. In February, at the id2 National Training Camp, more than 200 players participated in a week-long camp before the player pool narrowed further to about 70 players, who competed at the id2 National Selection Camp. The final stage of the year-long cycle featured 18 girls and 18 boys were selected for the id2 National Selection International Tour. This year’s programming will follow a similar timeline, with additional details and dates to be announced later.

The id2 Program is a leader in player identification and development, as it provides opportunities for elite athletes to be identified, developed and scouted for inclusion in U.S. Soccer’s youth national team programming. To further the program’s connection with U.S. Soccer, id2’s process for recommending a player now uses the same P3 database that U.S. Soccer youth national team programming uses.
