U.S. U-19 and U-18 Women’s National Team players to convene for combined camp
ATLANTA – A combined roster of U.S. Under-19 Women’s National Team players (born in 2007) and U.S. Under-18 Youth National Team players (born in 2008) will come together in West Palm Beach, FL for a training camp running from Nov. 25-Dec. 2.
The players will have the opportunity to attend the U.S. Women’s National Team match against Italy on Dec. 1 at Chase Stadium in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
This U-18/U-19 age group is coming off a trip to Portugal during that last FIFA window in which it beat Ireland (1-0) and tied Portugal (3-3). Just seven of the players in this camp were on that European trip, but one of them is forward Audrey McKeen, who scored the lone goal in the win over the Irish and scored twice in the draw with Portugal.
With the roster consisting mostly of players born in 2008, U.S. U-18 WNT head coach Toni Pressley will lead this camp and will be assisted by U.S. U-19 WNT head coach Carrie Kveton. Of the 24 players called up for this roster, 19 were born in 2008 and five were born in 2007.
The roster features one player from the USL Super League in defender Alexa Strickler of Fort Lauderdale United FC and three college players, 6-foot-2 goalkeeper Lizzie Thornton of Wake Forest, midfielder Brooke Bunton of SMU and midfielder Adia Symmonds, who attends Mississippi State. The remainder of the roster comes from youth clubs, including one in Spain, where defender Claire Kessenger plays for CE Europa in Spain’s top amateur division for girls.
Players born on or after Jan. 1, 2006, are age-eligible for next year’s 2026 FIFA Women’s U-20 World Cup in Poland, meaning all 24 players in camp are training and playing for a shot at that tournament.
